Need to get away for a while, settle down and leave your troubles behind? Looking for something that offers a little bit of everything for the entire family? Well, book one of many excellent Florida villas and set it as your final destination, as there is one place that has been drawing vacationers for decades. It also happens to be the oldest city in North America. It’s St. Augustine Florida. For Americans, it’s a chance to visit a timeless piece of their history and to marvel at the wonderful Spanish architecture that adorns this majestic city.

For Europeans, South Americans and every vacationer from around the world, it’s an opportunity to visit the most culturally significant city in the Eastern United States. So, why is St. Augustine such a must visit on your Florida holiday? Read on. There’s enough for everyone to enjoy and its 40 plus miles of pristine and sandy beaches are never overcrowded and always easily accessible.Revisionist historians are starting to argue that St. Augustine was the location of the first ever American Thanksgiving when Spanish Admiral Pedro Menendez de Aviles landed on its shores in 1565. One point that cannot be refuted is that St. Augustine was the location of the first ever Catholic Mass held in the United States. While these are fun factoids, most visit St. Augustine for its timeless beauty and its ever present Spanish appeal. When visiting St. Augustine, make sure to stop by the “Ancient City”. The two pillars that surrounded the original city of St. Augustine still stand today. These pillars welcome visitors to wander down the city’s cobblestone streets and visit a myriad of quaint shops and restaurants. A favourite destination for visitors, the Ancient City houses the oldest wooden school house in the United States and offers tours daily.

Across from the Old City lies the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, a fort originally built by the Spanish that later exchanged hands multiple times between the British and Americans. It also played a prominent role in America’s Civil War. Every vacationer makes it a point to stop by this ancient fort at least once. The fort has its original cannons and runs tours throughout the day.

If it’s fishing that interests you, there are plenty of St. Augustine charters that will take you out to catch that big one. However, fishermen don’t need to travel far. They can surf fish early morning, and then spend the rest of the day lying in the sun relaxing. For having a little bit of everything, St. Augustine is surely Florida’s best vacation destination. Many of the cheap holidays from Ocean Florida will make a day trip there most affordable.

The growth of the Internet and budget airlines has turned last-minute flights into a huge industry – you can just be surfing around, and then, right there, there’s a flight cheap enough for you to buy on impulse and go away this weekend. If you’re thinking about booking last minute flights, however, there are a few things you need to know.

An important point to make is that you can’t trust the prices you see quoted in advertising for last minute flights. This is because of the common practice of excluding booking fees, airport taxes and all sorts of other little extras from the price – these all get added on just when you’ve got your card out and you’re ready to pay, in the hope that by then you won’t want to back out.In addition, you should realise that just because a flight says it goes to a big city like London or Paris, it doesn’t mean that the airport is actually anywhere near. Budget airlines use smaller airports to avoid paying the higher airport charges at the larger ones, and these smaller airports can be as much as two hours away from the city centre by often unreliable public transport. In some cases, you can end up paying as much as you did for your plane tickets just to get a train to the place you thought was your destination.

On airlines that take bookings for seats, it is also worth noting that last minute flights will only have the seats that no-one else wanted, which usually means the ones in the middle of the row. This can be very important if you get airsick, or if you really want to sit together as a couple or family.

The biggest gotcha is that last-minute flights are always non-refundable. If you are going to buy one on impulse, make sure you can actually make it first, as there won’t be any backing out of the deal afterwards.

Trekking in Nepal? Cruising the Caribbean? Yes, you want to go and to spend some time enjoying the wonderful weather, view and just have a rest from everyday routine.

Whether you tramp through the rain forest or bask on a love boat-travel presents new and different health concerns mostly unknown at home.

We do not want to set on you with our lectures just, please, keep in mind some facts – that will be useful for you.

Preparing before you go is the best way to stay healthy while you’re traveling. See a doctor at least 6 weeks before you leave so that you’ll have time for immunizations that may need to be done in advance. Check with your doctor to see if there are medications or extra precautions that you should take. For example, people who have heart failure may need to take shorter flights with more stops to avoid long periods of sitting or they may need to adjust their medications. Before you go, research local sanitation and other conditions so that you can take appropriate measures while you are traveling:

- Is the water safe to drink?

- Do insects, such as mosquitoes or ticks, carry disease?

- Is there air pollution?

- Will the altitude make you sick?

- Is it safe to swim in pools, lakes, or the ocean?

- Could you get heat exhaustion, sun stroke, or sunburn?

Basic precautions, such as drinking bottled water or using insect repellent, can prevent some illnesses, ranging from an inconvenient bout of diarrhea to life-threatening malaria.

Preparing for a journey takes planning and time. Proper planning is the best way to stay healthy during your trip. See a doctor at least 6 weeks before you go so that you’ll have time for immunizations and other health precautions you may need to take in advance. There are several factors to consider in preparing for a trip.

Enjoy your trip.

When we finally manage to get it, we find ourselves confronted with other issues – apart from the usual hotel reservations, flight, etc. When you travel to a foreign country, you feel the need to tell everyone back home how things are, assure them you’re alright and you’re having fun. Unfortunately, it’s not always that easy. And here’s why:

If you have a cell phone with you, you may surprisingly find that it’s not working properly, because the cell phone operator in the country that you’re in uses a different technology or you don’t have international calling activated. And if all the above doesn’t apply, you may find yourself in an area with poor or no network coverage at all…

If you don’t have your cell phone with you, the only thing left to do is to try to call from a local phone or from the hotel.

In both situations, you’re at a disadvantage, mainly because it involves huge costs – international calls are charged with much higher rates because of the technology involved and depending on the agreements between carriers and operators in different countries. Plus, hotels always charge you extra for using their lines.

So what’s the solution? It’s very simple – get a calling card before you leave. Nowadays, calling cards are the easiest and most affordable communication way when you’re traveling. When you buy it, you receive instantly a PIN number, access numbers from all international locations and dialing instructions. Most of the time, you’ll also have special local access numbers in cities across the world – you’ll get a lower rate when using them.

Plus, you can get a call back feature – meaning that not only you’ll be able to call home, but also your friends and family can call you back! And all this at a very low cost, enabling you to do more of the things you like during your vacation.
